Enticing, smooth and delicious, the wine shows dark plum, mulberry, rosemary and warm spice characters with a hint of dark cocoa. It’s mouthfilling and expansive on the palate, displaying plump mouthfeel and velvety texture, well structured by fine grainy tannins. Generous and delectably long on the finish.
Luigi celebrated his 70th birthday in 2018 and we wanted a wine for his party that would be worthy of the occassion. For this most festive occasion we bottled up a 9 litre bottle and by the end of the day there wasn’t a drop left.

The Super Luigi is crafted from a blend of the savoury, textural and aromatic Sagrantino with Cabernet Sauvignon for intensity and length, inspired by the ‘Super Tuscan’ wines of Italy. The 2018 vintage provided perfect ripening conditions, forming the foundation for great colour and flavour in the Sagrantino and Cabernet Sauvignon.
The fruit is sourced from our Estate vineyards at Rowland Flat in the Southern Barossa Valley. The Sagrantino vines are planted in our Estate vineyards on sandy loam soils showcasing the varieties natural perfume, tannins and savoury characters. Partnered with the Cabernet Sauvignon from the Winery Cabernet Sauvignon block which is grown on stoney clay soils giving density, structure and length.
Aged in medium toasted American oak for 12 months as separate parcels of wine. The Sagrantino forms the backbone of this blend, with carefully selected barrels of the Winery Cabernet Sauvignon blended to complete this complex aromatic wine.
