Lou Miranda Estate Centenarian Old Vine Shiraz
Vineyard: Planted in 1907 on its own root stock, the 2.5 hectare situation inbetween the winery and the neighbouring church is a testament to the Schulz family, the original owners. This vineyard is classified by the Old Vine Charter as “Barossa Centenarian Vine”, equal or greater than 100 years of age.

2010 Vintage
Vintage Report: The long southern Australian drought of the early and mid 2000s broke and the Barossa experienced its best rainfall in five years during winter and spring of 2009, providing good soil moisture for the growing season.
Tasting notes: A beautifully matured Shiraz displaying generosity and balance. Layers of plush red fruits are supported by subtle spice and supple, ripe tannins. Well-integrated oak contributes depth, structure, and a lingering, graceful finish.
Awards: Winestate Magazine – 96 points / Robert Parker – 93 points

2016 Vintage
Vintage Report: The 2016 Barossa vintage was exceptional, producing high-quality fruit and a welcome return to normal yields after several smaller harvests. A warm, dry spring and early summer encouraged strong vine growth and excellent fruit set. Low rainfall and above-average temperatures resulted in concentrated flavours and outstanding balance across varieties.
Tasting notes: Rich and full-bodied, this vintage showcases the power and concentration of old vine fruit. Intense dark berry sweetness is harmoniously balanced by mocha-spiced oak and firm, fine-grained tannins. The result is a wine of depth, persistence, and impressive structure.
Awards: Wine Orbit – 96 points / Decanter World Wine Awards – 92 points

2018 Vintage
Vintage Report: The 2018 Barossa vintage began with above-average winter rainfall, setting up healthy early growth. A warm, dry spring followed, with temperatures slightly above average and limited rainfall promoting rapid canopy development. Excellent flowering and fruit set resulted in strong yields and vibrant, well-balanced fruit.
Tasting notes: Deep and brooding in colour, the 2018 vintage reveals an expressive bouquet of plum, blackberry, licorice and sage, lifted by oak notes of cedar and spice. The palate is complex and layered, with hints of black olive and a velvety texture that carries through to a long, savoury finish.
Awards: Sam Kim, The Wine Orbit – 96 points / Ken Garett – 95 points / Wine Showcase 2023 – 94 points / The Wine Panel – 94 points
