A Decade in the Making
Ten years on, we celebrate the 2016 vintage with a special release from the Lou Miranda Estate cellar. Bringing together three distinctive expressions of Barossa Valley wine, our 2016 Sagrantino, 2016 Old Vine Shiraz and 2016 Master Piero Shiraz, this collection offers a rare opportunity to revisit an exceptional vintage after a decade of careful ageing. Each wine tells its own story of variety, vineyard and time, brought together in one limited six-bottle release to mark ten years since vintage.

LOU MIRANDA ESTATE 2016 SAGRANTINO
Colour Garnet red
Aroma: Highly perfumed nose with florals, musk, spice, aniseed and sandalwood. Beguiling and alluring aromatics from an Italian variety famous for its aromatic expression.
Palate: Tight taut and chalky with great length of flavour. The red cranberry and cherry fruit are entwined with the unique tannin structure for which Sagrantino is renowned.
Wine: This is the 5th release of the Lou Miranda Estate Sagrantino from vines planted in our Estate vineyards in 2009. There are two clones planted in the same block MAT1 & MAT4. The 2016 vintage of the Sagrantino
showcases the varieties natural perfume and exquisite tannins that form the foundation of the texture and mouthfeel for which this variety is known. The delicate balance with making Sagrantino is trying to tame and control the natural assertive and abundant tannin derived from the skins and seeds without masking or dulling the exuberance of the aromatics.

LOU MIRANDA ESTATE 2016 OLD VINE SHIRAZ
Colour: Deep dark red with garnet hues
Aroma: Toasty vanilla notes intwined with brown spices of clove and star anise.
Fruit: characters of ripe plum, dark berry and black olive make for a complex, multilayered bouquet.
Palate: A full bodied wine with richness and concentration of flavour. The intense fruit sweetness typical of old vine fruit is balanced by oak characters and high extract tannins. The oak delivers persistence of flavour and length with mocha characters adding depth.
Winemaking: The Shiraz is sourced from vines planted in 1907 (Classified Centenarian Vines as per the Barossa Old Vine Charter) from the Estates ‘Winery Church’ block at Rowland Flat, in the Southern Barossa
Valley. The vines are dry grown and completely hand tendered. The fruit is assessed for ripeness of sugar and tannin prior to hand picking. The use of small open fermenters allows for gentle maceration. The wine
is aged in American oak for 2 and a half years, prior to being assessed, blended and bottled.

MASTER PIERO 2016 SHIRAZ
DEDICATED TO THE FOURTH GENERATION
Colour: Deep crimson red with purple hues
Aroma: Distinctively perfumed Barossa Valley Shiraz with lifted berry, licorice, black currant, lavender and hints of mint and spice. Some background toasty notes are derived from good quality oak adding to the brooding layers. The final wine is unique and intriguing.
Palate: A seductive wine displaying balanced palate weight, length and structure. Rich concentrated fruit characters are complemented by spicy, vanillan oak and velvety tannins. Lingering raspberry, plum, licorice and dark
chocolate flavours provide length on the palate. With its elegant structure, but powerful flavour, ensure great aging potential and makes for perfect drinking while young.
