Our Old Vine series of wines honours the perseverance and dedication of vignerons and winemakers who preceded the Miranda family. Lou Miranda Estate in the Barossa Valley is a testament to family tenacity and foresight with Francesco Miranda founding the winery in 1939. We are privileged to be custodians of four centanarian vine blocks at our Estate vineyards in the Southern Barossa Valley. The Church block Grenache was planted in 1917 adjacent to the Rowland Flat Lutheran Church. A tiny 0.14 ha block, which is dry grown and hand tended. In celebration of family, dedication and longevity, enjoy now or cellar for 5 – 8 years.

Colour: Burgundy red with marron hues.
Aroma: Very pretty and perfumed on the nose. Musk, cherry, raspberry with floral lavender and anise notes. Slightest wisp of smokiness and spice.
Palate: Bright and fresh with medium weight and very fine textured tannins. The raspberry and cherry flavours skip across the palate with racy refreshing acidity.
Winemaking : Made from a tiny 0.14Ha vineyard planted in 1917. The fruit was handpicked on the 16th March 2018 and fermented in two small open top fermenters with 30% whole bunch inclusion. Hand plunged daily and fermented hot ( 28-35C) and fast. Fermentation was completed in 5 days and pressed to seasoned 15 year old oak where malolactic fermentation finished. Matured in oak for 5 months only.
Assessment: This is a vibrant fresh juicey style of Grenache. Itβs a modern contemporary Barossa style focussing on the exuberant fruit flavours. Being medium weight with bright refreshing acidity this wine will pair with oiley rich dishes that are completely indulgent and delicious. Peking Duck, pork belly, grilled sardines or baked ham at Christmas.
Cellaring: Delicious and moreish in its youth we would recommend consuming when young with minimal cellaring However will cellar for 3-5 years in correct conditions
